About Francisco Casanovas
Born in 1895, Francisco Casanovas was a prominent composer and conductor, recognized for his numerous symphonic works and chamber music compositions. Notably, he composed the national anthem for India and forged a significant friendship with the iconic poet rabindranath tagore. His musical journey took him around the globe, performing with prestigious conductors. In 1970, he settled in Torrevieja at the age of 70, where he became the director of the Unión Musical Torrevejense (UMT) and taught many generations of young musicians until 1981.
