AGAMED Unveils €4.3 Million Infrastructure Improvement Plan for Torrevieja

Investment in Water Distribution and Sanitation

The board of directors of AGAMED, led by Torrevieja’s mayor, Eduardo Dolón, has announced a substantial infrastructure investment plan for the year 2025, amounting to a total of €4,323,463. This ambitious plan aims to enhance the municipality’s water distribution network, as well as its sanitation and rainwater systems.

Key Objectives of the Plan

Jorge Ballesta, the manager of AGAMED, explains that the initiatives outlined in the 2025 Infrastructure Plan build on previous efforts, incorporating recent contributions. This approach will bolster the overarching goals of improved water supply, sanitation, and rainwater drainage for the residents of Torrevieja.

Upcoming Improvements to Water Distribution Network

• Infrastructure Enhancements: The plan focuses on upgrading areas of greatest need within the existing water distribution framework.
• Key Upgrades:

– Repairing the La Ceñuela drinking water deposit to ensure a consistent water supply for the southern part of the municipality.
– Replacing approximately 8,500 drinking water meters to improve service quality.

• Budget Allocation: These initiatives will account for an investment of €500,003 from AGAMED’s own funds.

Advancements in Sanitation and Sewer Systems

• Improved Wastewater Management: The plan prioritizes enhancing wastewater flow by renewing and expanding current infrastructure to meet modern demands.
• Challenges Addressed: Action will be taken to solve issues like blockages and breakdowns in various urban areas caused by aging infrastructure.
• Investment Cost: The total cost for these sanitation improvements will reach €605,749 from AGAMED’s funds.

Rainwater Drainage Developments

• Rainwater Management: Approximately €1,292,591 will be invested in improving existing facilities to better manage rainwater runoff and minimize flooding.
• Future Investments: Additional initiatives, totaling €113,606, will focus on accessibility enhancements and the installation of solar energy systems.
