New Ecoparque Opens in Albatera: A Step Towards Environmental Sustainability

On Tuesday, November 5, 2023, the town of Albatera celebrated the launch of its first Ecoparque, a crucial initiative aimed at enhancing waste management and environmental sustainability in the region. Juanjo Fuentes, the Councilor for Public Services of Albatera, along with José García from UTE Geamur Valoriza, toured the new facilities that promise to provide invaluable services to the local community.

About the Ecoparque

Located in the Mos del Bou Industrial Park, the new Ecoparque will serve as a collecting point for residents to responsibly dispose of unwanted items, including:

• Furniture
• Mattresses
• Electronic appliances

This facility is under the operation of UTE Geamur Valoriza, which has been managing urban waste collection and street cleaning in Albatera since signing its contract in April 2023. Fuentes emphasized the importance of this partnership, noting, “It’s one of the most significant contracts for the town due to its scale. After more than a year, we can say it’s a complete success, exemplified by the inauguration of this new Ecoparque.”

Who Can Use the Ecoparque?

The Ecoparque is exclusively available to the residents of Albatera, with special provisions for individuals wishing to dispose of items such as furniture or home appliances. Access to the facility is structured as follows:

• Open Days:

– Mondays and Fridays: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
– Wednesdays: 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM

Businesses and commercial entities are not permitted to use this service, ensuring that it remains a resource for local residents.

Additional Waste Management Resources

In addition to the Ecoparque, smaller waste items such as batteries, ink cartridges, and used x-rays will continue to be collected by the Eco-Park from the Vega Baja Sustainable Consortium, which operates every Thursday at Plaza San Jaime from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM.

Modern Logistics Center Unveiled

The Ecoparque’s inauguration was accompanied by the unveiling of a new logistics center operated by UTE Geamur Valoriza. The center spans an impressive 2,138 square meters and includes:

• A warehouse with a 250 m² area
• A washing facility of 72 m²
• Administrative management area, storage, offices, restrooms, and a vehicle maintenance zone

This state-of-the-art facility aims to bolster operational efficiency and enhance service delivery to the residents.

Juanjo Fuentes concluded by emphasizing the community’s commitment to maintaining cleanliness in Albatera. “This opening demonstrates our dedication to the citizens of Albatera, allowing them to stroll through cleaner streets and providing them with the means to dispose of unwanted items properly, which respects our residents, our city, and of course, the environment,” he stated.
