Torrevieja Announces Ambitious Upgrade for Sports Facilities

The Torrevieja City Council is set to enhance its sports facilities, with approval planned for this Friday, October 18, during the Local Government Board (JGL) meeting. Led by the Councilor for Sports, Diana Box Alonso, the project focuses on repairing seven padel courts, two frontenis courts, and improving accessibility throughout the site.

Key Features of the Renovation Project

The proposed works come with a significant budget of €1,198,720 (including taxes) and an expected completion time of six months. Below are the most notable renovations planned:

Padel Courts Renovation

• Replacement of the existing seven courts with new WPT double panoramic courts.
• Installation of artificial grass and LED lighting columns.
• Implementation of injury prevention systems and enhancements to spectator seating.
• Repair work including masonry and painting of bleachers.

Accessibility and Urbanization Enhancements

• A new maintenance entrance will be added from Avenida Delfina Viudes.
• New pavement along the sides of four courts will facilitate usage, as current paths are lacking.
• A fully accessible ramp will be constructed, improving connectivity between multiple zones.

Frontenis Courts Repairs

• Repair and regularization of the front of the two existing frontenis courts.
• Replacement of outdated lighting with energy-efficient options.
• Painting of sports surfaces and upgrading access points for maintenance machinery.

New Access Control Measures

• A larger access control system will replace the current one on Avenida de Delfina Viudes.
• This upgrade will improve traffic flow and security at the sports complex.

New Cafeteria Construction

• A new cafeteria will be built between the gym and the exhibition court.
• The design includes a spacious outdoor terrace for visitors.

Additional Complementary Works

• Replacement of existing lights on three tennis courts will be conducted.
• Improvements to gym locker room utilities, including solar panel replacements and new thermostatic faucets.
