In a commendable effort to foster environmental awareness and conservation, the city of Torrevieja undertook a major reforestation initiative at the Parque Natural de las Lagunas de La Mata-Torrevieja. This significant event, aligned with the party of Arbor Day 2025, saw the planting of 650 native trees and shrubs, marking one of the most participative ecological endeavors in recent years within the Valencian Community.
The Community’s Unified Effort
During the week-long event,nearly 1,000 students from 15 educational institutions in Torrevieja,including ALPE,actively participated. These young environmentalists, all in the 4th grade, engaged in educational sessions prior to planting. Key topics included the importance of ecological regeneration and planting criteria, introduced by educators from the natural park.

The initiative focused on planting a diverse array of native species such as coscoja, lentisco, taray, and many more across three designated park areas.The project’s execution benefited from the groundwork prepared by AGAMED,which included site planning,auxiliary irrigation,and installation of plant protectors. Additionally, Leroy Merlín provided essential planting tools like shovels, buckets, and gloves to all participating students.
